Where to Ride

Here is a selection of low traffic or traffic-free locations frequented by Doha cyclists. Also see Where to ride MTB.

Olympic Cycle Track
The OCT is a dedicated road for cyclists, running alongside the Al Khor Highway 33km one-way from between Qatar University and Doha Golf club in the south to Al Bayt Stadium outside Al Khor. There is a large car park at the Doha end and a smaller one at the Lusail Sport Complex and Al Dayyeen/Umm Gurn.

Losail international circuit service roads
A short drive north of the city brings you to the Lusail Sports Complex. The surrounding roads are virtually traffic free and you'll find cyclists training here every day.

Ceremonial road
'CR' isn't the road to nowhere that it once was and now that the Mall of Qatar is open, it is certainly busier than before. However, next to the main road, there are the surrounding service roads which make it possible to have relatively traffic free riding. CR also has a cycling track separated from the main highway.

C Ring to Airport cycle path
Although this cycle path follows the main road out to the airport, the landscaped surround and the appeal of the destination to youngsters, make this a good route for a family ride. You'll also meet groups of cyclists using the 20km out and back for training. It is well lit, so possible to be safe after dark.

G-Ring Extension - The extension to this track continues past the split to the airport and continues past two roundabouts and dead ends past Barwa City.  Start to end one way exceeds 30kms so plan for a long one if you try it out.

Losail International Circuit
The motor racing track opens its doors to the non petrol-head public for several months each year. The 5.5 km circuit is great for fast training with the track wide enough to also accommodate families and runners. More about this

Al Shahaniya to Al Jamailiyah cycle path (start point)
A new (2017) cycle path headed north west from the camel race track for 27km.

Dukhan & Umm Baab
There are plenty of places away from Doha where the traffic eases but one of the most popular is the Dukhan area. Here, you'll find the closest thing that Qatar has to real hills. You can explore from Cuban Hospital in the East to Umm Baab in the south and all the way up the peninsular.
