Zwift Qatar Race Series
Each week Zwift Qatar nominate a public race on the Zwift virtual cycling platform to compete against each other. Although Zwift offers hundreds or even thousands or riders around the world to race with, it is tremendously motivating to see Qatar flagged riders in the virtual peloton.
There are 12 races in the series with best 10 results to count. It is contested in Zwift's A, B, C, D ability grades, so slower riders have a chance to compete against the fastest for the series title. We are grateful to Rasen Adventure Shop for supporting online racing with prizes.
Each week's race is announced on the Zwift Qatar Facebook and Whatsapp groups 2-3 days in advance of the event with a variety of courses and start times on offer so as many as possible can find 10 races in which to participate over the 12 weeks of the series.

Rules
- You need to register with Zwiftpower (3rd party results service)
- You must be identifiable as having a connection to Qatar. The preferred way of doing this is to set your Zwift Power team to Qatar Zwifters. You can also change your Zwift nationality to Qatar or add [QAT] after your name in Zwift Power.
- You must ride in your allocated Zwift Power race category. Riding in a category below will earn you a DQ.
- Heart rate data is not mandatory even if the race requires it. ZP may DQ you but you will register a score in the league.
- Participants must have a means of recording actual power data. That may be via a smart trainer or a dumb trainer with a power meter. Zwift Power (virtual power estimated from a dumb trainer) is not allowed.
- Three podium positions in your category will require you to race in the next category up for the subsequent races. This is vital to stop one rider running away with the competition. We want to keep it fun.....
This is regardless of how you are graded in Zwift Power, you may continue to race in your ZP category but you will not be eligible to score points. - If you were upgraded last series but your ZP category hasn't changed then you can start the series in your ZP category.
- Your best 10 results from 12 races count towards your final total.
- Where data is available in the race results there will may bonus points for primes or hills, the details of these will be announced for each race.
- If you have an issue with your result or believe a DQ was unjustified the organiser will consider appeals. His decision is final!
Scoring
- Every category of the race is worth 100 points to the winner. The place points are based on field size and your position. In a 10 rider race, 1st is worth 100 points, 2nd 90 points, 3rd 80 points etc. In a 20 rider race 1st is still 100 points but 2nd is now 95, 3rd 90 etc.
- Playing a joker: When you play a Joker your score for that race, including bonus points for prime lap/KOM is increased by 50%.
- You can play two Jokers per series. If you announce a Joker then it is considered to be played whether or not you subsequently race.
- You can play these in any race by commenting on the Facebook or Whatsapp race announcement post up to the race start time.

This involves telling ZP your Zwift ID. There is a tool to find your Zwift ID on the connections page of Zwift Power. Here is a video detailing this and the entire process:

Yes, that's a lot of hoops to jump through but the end result is worth it. Post-GDPR, ZP is no longer the comprehensive service it was and many results are missing but it is still a great service and it is essential to participate in Qatar Zwifter competitions.
STILL NOT SEEING YOUR RESULTS?
ZP is a tool for race organisers to help them produce more valid results than those available in Zwift. They can specify restrictions such as automatic DQ if you exceed the power threshold of your category; require heart rate data; disallow ZPower results (the estimated power number that Zwift calculates based on speed if you are not using a power source such as a smart trainer or power meter). As in real life, each race has different rules and infringements don't always mean removal from ZP results. Be sure to read the race description before each race to find out what is required. Zwift Power also assigns a grade based on results and the Zwift Qatar league requires you to race in your assigned grade.
